  3. This file contains information about last minute changes to PDL or other
  4. important user information.  It will also get you started if you do not have
  5. time to read the PDL.DOC file.

  7. What's New
  8. ----------
  9. PDL31 contains several new features:
  10.  - Market Close pages for Futures and Foreign Exchange Rates
  11.  - Vacation Mode of operation (unattended downloading)
  12.  - History file (save daily quotes in an archive file)
  13.  - X QRQ30 indicator (gets Quote Track list 1 & 2)
  14. Refer to the PDL.DOC file to for details on how to use the new features.

  16. Installing PDL
  17. --------------
  18. If you have a previous version of PDL installed on your system, be sure to
  19. write down your registration code prior to running the PDLCONF program.  It
  20. is best to install PDL in a new directory and not in the same directory as
  21. the previous version.  This allows you to copy over your own PDL.IN file
  22. and prevents over writing the configuration information.

  24. PDL is supplied in the .ZIP format and must be "unzipped" using the PKUNZIP
  25. program.  The PDL31 directory should contain the following files:

  27.            PDL.EXE        PDLMIS.COM         PDLSCHED.CTL
  28.            PDLKEY.COM        PDLCONF.EXE      REGISTER.DOC
  29.            PDL.DOC        PDLCONF.HLP
  30.            PDL.IN        READ.ME
  31.            PDLRUN.BXT        PDLSCHED.COM

  33. **PDLRUN.BXT is a template file used to create the PDLRUN.BAT file.  Do not
  34. alter this file or the configuration program may not operate correctly.

  37. Configuring PDL
  38. ---------------
  39.             PDLCONF.EXE
  40.  
  41. Release 3.1 of PDL contains a configuration program to assist you in building
  42. the PDL.CNF and PDLRUN.BAT files.  These two files are necessary to properly
  43. start and run the PDL program.    It will attempt to collect information from a
  44. variety of sources and then provide you with a convenient, menu driven method
  45. of specifying additional parameters or changing the automatic ones.  Once the
  46. information is correct, select the Update Parameter Files option to save the
  47. configuration and build the PDLRUN.BAT file.

  49. The configuration program is started by typing PDLCONF at the DOS prompt.

  52. Running PDL
  53. -----------
  54. The PDL program is started by typing PDLRUN at the DOS prompt.

  57. PDL.IN
  58. ------
  59. The input file (PDL.IN) can be created by using any ASCII editor (such as EDLIN)
  60. to build the ticker list.  The list format is "TYPE TICKER" where TYPE is S, F,
  61. B, or X and TICKER is the symbol name (5 characters maximum).

  63. If you have not registered PDL it will not be able to retrieve the Market Close
  64. pages or the new QRQ30 list.
